This product is really VERY good! I feel like after starting to use this product our 4 month-old has started to become more interactive. She enjoys the lower hanging elephant piece and grabs on the ring with a very strong grip. She also really seems to like to baby zebra piece with the black and white patterns on the back and the crinkly sounds it makes. The mirror on the sun piece is a great idea too, as our baby giggles at herself when she catches her reflection. Also, our child hated belly-time but now with the all the animals to look at on the mat and the ability to attach the pieces to the mat, she seems to enjoy belly-time more, and is far less fussy. Now all of this may be just time and developing as any normal child, however, the timing of how interactive she has become happens to correlate with when she started playing on this mat. The piano is great as well! She hits the piano with her feet while on her back and after a few random stomps, she seems to understand that the sound occurs with every stomp... and then she starts stomping with more intent. Also, I prop her up with pillows in the seated position and seat her in front of the piano (after changing the position of the piano) and she really seems to enjoy banging on the keys, at least for a few minutes before she slumps over. It's probably too early for that for her but in a few months when she can sit independently i'm sure she will really enjoy sitting and playing the piano. The Setup: Very easy! Everything was so intuitive. The only thing you need is a philips screw driver to fasten the screws to make the frame super secure. The Quality: very good! we've used it agrressively for 2 weeks now and noothing is ripping/tearing or coming apart.Dismantling: Very easy! The piano can be removed or position changed within a few seconds by loosening the large red knobs on either side.Best things: Easy set up - took me like 3-4 minutes after unboxing, lots of things to keep your baby interacting and visually and auditorily stimulated One last thing! Our baby just turned for the first time on this mat! Today! While I was writing this review! You can tell I really like this product! Take my review with a grain of salt, as our child's development in the last few weeks may very well be independent of this product. But who know, maybe it helped her turn over today and perhaps it will be responsible for making her a musical genius in the years to come.Got this when my daughter was two months old and finally developed enough arm control to start playing with things. She'd always been a strong kicker, so we settled on this one instead of the jungle one that only had hanging toys.As expected, she loves it! She can sit and flail her legs for a good 20-30 minutes before getting tired, and the dangling toys keep her entertained after that. Her favorites are the crinkly cellophane zebra, which we often detach from the arch for her to play with elsewhere, and the elephant cymbal loop, which she always has one hand on while playing. She shows a little interest in the rattling plastic frog ball for now, and zero interest in the blue soft chewable(?) hippo thing. At this point, my only main gripe with it is that the loops the toys hang on are too small to swap out other toys with a similar type of attachment. I've got a butterfly with crinkly wings from her infant seat that has the larger nub on the top part of the ring, and for the life of me I can't fit it through the loop to hang from this arch.It took a bit of a vacation from the daily rotation when she was first learning to roll over, because she'd repeatedly try to roll over onto her stomach and get stuck against one of the sides of the arch. This was pretty upsetting to her. As she gets a bit better at this, it's making a reappearance since she still loves to kick and bat at the hanging toys.Note: Ours ended up being slightly defective: one of the loops holding the mat to the plastic frame had been installed a full two inches off where it should have been and was impossible to get into the slot. We sent in a note to Fisher Price about it, hoping to get a replacement mat, and they sent us an entire second gym for free right away. The mat actually works fine apart from that one loop so by the time it arrived we decided we didn't really want to open up a box (with how securely the pieces are attached to the box you kinda have to demolish it to get anything out) just to get a new mat that may have the same problem, and we'd just donate the free one they sent.I purchased the Kick and Play Piano Gym for my grandson a couple of years ago. He loved it. Since he enjoyed it so much, I decided to buy a second one to keep at my house to use with my second grandson who is expected soon. While this gym still has all the play elements of the first one, this one is different and, in my mind, not as simple. On the old one, I could easily adjust the piano from the lying down to sitting down position. On this one I have to unscrew it, then put it back together to change position. Very inconvenient. The older model has been discontinued by the manufacturer apparently. I don't understand why they changed it.That said, you can take the piano completely off on this one and an older child can carry it around. I did this and gave it to the 2 year old. He was not interested and put it down immediately, telling me to put it back on the gym. Other children might enjoy that feature, however, and maybe he will in time as well. Putting the rest of it together did not take long at all. I think my grandson will get much enjoyment from it.Also note that it took me forever to get the product out of the box. It was packaged with clips and things to hold the gym in the box and I had to use scissors to get to those clips to cut them. Now that does mean that it was packaged very well. Maybe too well for this grandma. Your baby will not care how long it takes you, but older children might get impatient if they see it before it's out of the box.Someone inquired about washing the fabric piece. It IS washable in cool water. To take it apart you would pull the four tabs out and untie the longer sections on the back of the piano. I am including a closeup photo of the small 1.25" tabs and the longer pieces that come out of the piano. The small tabs have a thicker section on one end which prevents it from coming out easily once put together. However, it can be removed by an adult without much trouble. As a first time parents, we bought many things and toys that are never being used. But not this time as this playmat was definitely one of the best purchases for our little one.We have bought this when he was 3 months old and I wish we’ve done it sooner! He struggled to catch toys or objects and this mat definitely helped with that. He loves to play the keyboard with his legs which (despite some negative reviews) is loud enough. I was worried about the battery usage, but we didn’t have to change the batteries once since we got it (the original ones are still going!!)Our little boy is now 5 months old and he still loves to be on this mat!We use it all the time, for playing but also as a changing mat. I found it very useful as my baby boy used to hate changing nappies.I just turn him around on the mat, so the keyboard is not in my way and I can change him hassle free and also manage to give him plenty nappy free time while he is playing with the toys! The mat itself can be washed in the washing machine which keeps it nice and clean.UPDATE AFTER 9 MONTHS:My baby is 12 months now and we are still making a use of this product. The dangling toys are on the pram and he still plays with them every time we go out. The keyboard is detached from the plastic construction and he is now carrying or pushing it around and play with it. He still loves it!Highly recommend, hope you found this helpful :-)Le compramos al enano para estas fechas este parque/gimnasio. My baby boy was born blind and I was looking for a playmat that was more musical, so many are heavily visual. This mat is perfect, he loves kicking his feet to play the music and is also able to find the toys above him. I’ve swapped the toys for ones more appropriate for his needs but great for this to be an option.I purchased the Fisher-Price BMH49 Kick and Play Piano Gym for my newborn son.The product arrived In a branded box so would look great as a gift.It was easy to assemble and was up within minutes, my sons been using the play mat now for 5 months now without losing interest! It sounds great and the batteries last for ages even with all the kicking. I think that the mat has really helped him learn to use his legs more and his arms to kick and grab the toys.Over time I did add and change some of the toys that dangle down to keep his interest but the ones included are some of his favourites. My own downside is the mat included isn’t padded so I always have a blanket under to keep it comfy and less risk when he’s on his front.I’d defiantly use this again and recommend to anyone expecting. My little boy has loved this toy since he was nearly 4 months old. He is now 8 months old and still loves the piano and hanging toys which I have now disconnected from the mat.At first I would lay him on the mat and he would be mesmerized by the toys and try to bat his arms at them. He soon figured out that if he kicked his feet he could make music play. This really delighted him and would keep him occupied for a good while.Once he got better hand-eye coordination he discovered the wrinkly toy which he loved to stare at, squeeze and put in his mouth and he found himself in the little morror which always makes him squeel with delight. Soon he was using the elephant as a teether too. Now he loves to sit and bang on the piano. We even took it on holiday as it's very easy to take apart and pack flat. All in all a great purchase. I would highly recommend it.
